TAKE A SELFIE, PAY THE BILL !

MasteCard-Selfie-Bill

In an interview with CNNMoney , Ajay Bhalla, MasterCard's President of Enterprise Security and Safety revealed that MasterCard is planning to introduce a new mobile app which will let you to pay the bills with a selfie.! MasterCard is one of the biggest providers of credit and debit cards, operating in more than 200 countries.
From the developer’s statement, “The app uses facial recognition to verify your identity. After downloading the app, you pay for things by simply looking at your phone and blinking once. The blink prevents thieves from showing the app a picture of your face in an attempt to fool it. Alternatively, the app can read your fingerprint.”

“The new generation, which is into selfies … I think they’ll find it cool”, says Ajay Bhalla. The company is also playing with voice and heartbeat recognition to make the secure payment process even more seamless, he added. Currently MasterCard asks for a password to verify purchases with its Secure-Code system. The new biometric methods for verifying your identity could replace passwords or PIN codes.

It's not clear when the app will be available to customers. But as a trial, MasterCard will first try the app with 500 customers. And once all the bugs that may come have been fixed, it will be made publicly available.

What you think of this? Will it be secure enough ? Share your thoughts in comments. Cheers!
