HOW TO DELETE “UNDELETABLE” FILES

delete-undeleteable-files
We usually delete the unwanted files from our pc to keep up the space. But some times, have you noticed when you trying to delete some file, it shows an error message like “the process cannot be done”  or something else. Do you know why this happens? The main reason behind this is that the explorer.exe process locks files that are in use, effectively preventing you from deleting them. Anyhow if you get into a situation to delete this file, here is a solution.

Things To Do:

Open a Command Prompt window and leave it open.

  Close all open programs.

Click Start, Run and enter TASKMGR.EXE

Go to the Processes tab and End Process on Explorer.exe.

  Leave Task Manager open.

Go back to the Command Prompt window & change to the directory where undeletable file is located.

In the command prompt type DEL <Type File path here without brackets>.

  Go back to Task Manager.

Then click File, New Task and enter EXPLORER.EXE to restart.

  Close Task Manager. Done.
